Final budget hearing is Wednesday, April 24 in Green Bay

The Joint Finance Committee will hold the final of four public hearings on the proposed 2019-21 state budget on Wednesday, April 24 at the the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, University Union – Phoenix Rooms (2430 Campus Court, Green Bay, WI  54311).

The hearing is scheduled to run from 10am to 5pm but may go longer if people are still waiting to testify. Although no one will be allowed to register to speak after 5pm, the hearing will continue until everyone who registered before then is allowed to speak. Next budget hearing is Monday; thanks to school board members who have testified so far

The Joint Finance Committee will hold the third of four scheduled public hearings on the proposed 2019-21 state budget on Monday, April 15 at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls University Center – Riverview Ballroom #260 (500 Wild Rose Avenue, River Falls, WI 54022).

Free Public Parking will be available in the UW – River Falls PAY 1 LOT (North Second Street, River Falls)

JFC to hold Milwaukee-area budget hearing on Wednesday (April 10)

The Legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee will hold the second of four scheduled public hearings on the proposed 2019-21 state budget next Wednesday (April 10) in Oak Creek.

How to submit written testimony on the budget & additional details on budget hearings

Two years ago, the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee (JFC) held six public hearings around the state to gather public feedback on the proposed state budget.  This time around, that is down to four public hearings (Janesville, Oak Creek, River Falls & Green Bay).

We strongly encourage board members and administrators to attend and testify if at all possible.  However, if you are unable to attend to testify in person, you can still submit written testimony to the committee electronically at the following email address:

April advocacy tip: testify at a JFC budget hearing

As we posted earlier, the dates and locations of four public hearings of the legislature’s powerful Joint Finance Committee (JFC) on the state budget have been announced. Members of interest groups and the general public may testify, while testimony from lobbyists is frowned upon. LFB Summary of Governor’s Proposed Budget Released

The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) has released its summary of the governor’s proposed budget bill.  It is available online. (See links below.)

Considered by lawmakers to be the definitive analysis, the LFB summary document breaks the budget bill down on an agency-by-agency basis, according to the state agency responsible for administering the particular program(s) being funded.
