DOJ School Safety Director named and other updates/reminders

Office of School Safety/State School Safety Grants—Attorney General Brad Schimel has named Beloit Police Lieutenant Kristen Devitt to be the Director of the Office of School Safety.  Ms. Devitt is a former school resource officer (SRO) who currently oversees SROs in Beloit.  She is also a part-time instructor for the National Association of School Resource Officers.  Former Acting Director Glenn Rehberg will become the Deputy Director.

The deadline for School Safety Initiative grant applications was June 8th.  Since then (thru June 26), the DOJ has awarded more than 181 grants to the 735 applicants.  The DOJ continues to award grants as quickly as possible.  School leaders should please remember that grant-funded work must not begin until the grant award letter has been signed and returned to the DOJ. DOR: Apply for $100 child sales tax rebate beginning May 15

From the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue (DOR):

What is the Child Sales Tax Rebate?

It is a $100 rebate for sales and use tax paid on purchases made for raising a dependent child in 2017.*

You may claim $100 for each qualified child. 

Who can claim the Child Sales Tax Rebate?
