Next budget hearing is Monday; thanks to school board members who have testified so far

The Joint Finance Committee will hold the third of four scheduled public hearings on the proposed 2019-21 state budget on Monday, April 15 at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls University Center – Riverview Ballroom #260 (500 Wild Rose Avenue, River Falls, WI 54022).

Free Public Parking will be available in the UW – River Falls PAY 1 LOT (North Second Street, River Falls)

The hearing is scheduled to run from 10am to 5pm but may go longer if people are still waiting to testify. Although no one will be allowed to register to speak after 5pm, the hearing will continue until everyone who registered by 5 pm is allowed to speak.

Dan Rossmiller will be on hand to help board members register to testify and to answer questions.

We strongly encourage board members and administrators to attend and testify. This is your chance to speak out on issues such as increasing special education categorical aid, restoring annual per pupil adjustments to revenue limits indexed to inflation (CPI), and promoting revenue limit equity (through additional increases to the low revenue ceiling), among others.

The final JFC budget hearing will be held in Green Bay on Wednesday, April 24.

We also want to thank and recognize the school board members who have testified at the first two hearings:

  • Jill Gaskell, Pecatonica
  • Debra Fairbanks, New Glarus
