School funding panel sets final public hearing for June 4

The Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding will hold its last scheduled public hearing in Madison on June 4.  The hearing will take place in the room 412 East of the State Capitol.

This will be your final opportunity to provide in-person testimony to the Commission. If you can’t make it to speak in-person on June 4 but still wish to be heard, you can submit written testimony.

The Commission co-chairs, state Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon) and state Rep. Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay), have indicated the Madison hearing will be divided into two parts–an informational portion and a public testimony portion.

During the informational hearing portion, which will begin at 9:00 a.m., the Commission will hear from four sets of invited presenters, including researchers from the Education Commission of the States (ECS). That portion is expected to last roughly four hours.

The public hearing portion will start at 1:00 p.m. or following the conclusion of the informational hearing. Members of the public are invited to testify during this portion.  The Commission will take testimony from members of the public until 5:00 p.m., when the hearing will conclude.
