From the governor’s office press release:
MADISON – Governor Scott Walker announced a new tool for school administrators and public safety officials to make schools safer and more secure through the purchasing process of new equipment and use of service contracts. The website, schoolsafetycontracts.wi.gov, was created in conjunction with Governor Walker’s $100 million School Safety Plan through Executive Order #279 relating to school security and safety equipment, supply, and service contracts.
“This website gives school administrators and public safety officials access to equipment and service contracts they can use to strengthen the safety and security of schools,” Governor Walker said. “Better pricing and terms of services accessible through the new website will help schools meet their safety and security needs. Through the website, schools will be able to provide feedback on their safety and security priorities, which will further help the state meet their needs moving forward.
Executive Order #279 directs the Department of Administration (DOA), State Bureau of Procurement to assist school districts by making available state contracts that provide security and safety supplies, equipment and services at competitively-bid prices and advantageous terms. The new website initially includes information on state contracts including public safety communications equipment, video equipment and surveillance cameras, metal detectors, access control devices and other safety and security equipment.
The website invites school and public safety officials to provide feedback on security and safety purchasing needs that may be met through future contracts. The website also offers a subscription service to receive updates as new contracts become available.
Additionally, the Executive Order directs the Department of Administration to encourage vendors on contract to extend state pricing and terms to private schools in Wisconsin. The State Bureau of Procurement has initiated outreach to vendors and will update the website with information for private schools as it becomes available.
