The Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding has announced that the first of its statewide public hearings will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at the James Madison Academic Campus, 8135 W. Florist Ave, Milwaukee. (See map.)
The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
According to the public hearing notice, the Commission will hear testimony from invited speakers, including representatives from the following:
- Milwaukee Public Schools
- Southeast Wisconsin Schools Alliance
- School Choice Wisconsin
Following those presentations, members of the public are invited to speak and share their thoughts. To ensure all of those in attendance are able to be heard, public testimony will be limited to 5 minutes.
James Madison Academic Campus is a public high school on the northwest side of Milwaukee. It is part of the Milwaukee Public School (MPS) System.
Update: The Blue Ribbon Commission has a new website. In addition, the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau has begun producing research papers on school district funding and other topics in response to requests from Commission members/
