Please Join Us At Convention For GR-Related Sessions

The Government Relations (GR) team—WASB lobbyists Dan Rossmiller and Chris Kulow– will be engaged in a number of legislative-related events and activities during the 2018 State Education Convention.  We invite you attend to join us for any or all of these events.

WASB Pre-Delegate Assembly Discussion Session
Tuesday, Jan. 16, 7:00- 8:00 p.m.
Hilton Milwaukee City Center–Crystal Ballroom, Fifth Floor

The chair of the WASB Policy and Resolutions Committee conducts this discussion session to afford delegates an opportunity to seek any needed clarifications of issues addressed in the recommended resolutions. With the help of the GR team, we will go through the resolutions one-by-one to answer any questions you may have and, hopefully, learn if any delegates intend to offer amendments to the recommended resolutions.

This will be an information session only; no action will be taken and no debate on the resolutions will be allowed. Delegates and alternates are encouraged to attend and all school board members and administrators are welcome. This session will include a review of parliamentary procedure for delegate assemblies by the WASB parliamentarian.

WASB New Delegate/Convention Orientation
Wednesday, Jan. 17, 8:00-9:00 a.m.
Wisconsin Center, Ballroom AB

First time convention attendees and school board and CESA delegates who are serving for the first time are invited to participate in an orientation session to outline the convention highlights and to discuss delegates’ role and the procedures of the WASB Delegate Assembly.

WASB Delegate Assembly
Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1:30-4:00 p.m. (approximately)

WASB Legislative Update
Friday, Jan. 19, 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Wisconsin Center, Room 102AB

Board members and administrators are invited to hear the WASB GR Team provide the latest updates on legislation impacting schools that is still under consideration by lawmakers as the 2017-18 Legislative session winds down. The GR team will provide insight into which bills are likely to pass and which aren’t and the Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding.
