Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) announced he is appointing Senator Duey Stroebel (R-Saukville) to the Legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee. Stroebel will replace Sheila Harsdorf who resigned her Senate seat to become Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Her open state Senate seat will be filled in a special election in January.
Sen. Stroebel released a statement that reads in part:
Prior to my time in the legislature, my background includes serving on the Cedarburg School Board, multiple bank boards, Town of Cedarburg Planning Commission and local charity boards.
This breadth of experience will allow me to take a holistic look at the entire budget.
As a member of the Joint Finance Committee, I will dig deeply into the budget looking for bold reforms that reduce government’s size and spend our scarce taxpayer resources more effectively.
I was sent to Madison to ensure all Wisconsinites may achieve economic prosperity and a higher quality of life.
Sen. Stroebel represents the 20th Senate District, which includes portions of Calumet, Fond du Lac, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Washington Counties.
