Special Elections Set for State Legislature

Nomination papers have been filed and the fields are set for three special elections ordered by Governor Walker for seats in the state legislature.  Senate District 10 was vacated when Sheila Harsdorf was appointed Secretary of the Dept. of Ag, Trade & Consumer Protection, Assembly District 58 was vacated by the death of Rep. Bob Gannon and Assembly District 66 was vacated by Rep. Cory Mason being elected Mayor of Racine.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, December 19 with the general election to follow on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.  Below are the candidates on the ballot in each race according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission:

State Senate District 10 – Parts of Burnett, Dunn, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties

GOP: State Rep. Shannon Zimmerman (River Falls) and state Rep. Adam Jarchow (Balsam Lake)

Dem: Rueben Helge Herfindahl (River Falls), John Rocco Calabrese (Glenwood City) and Patty Schnachter (Somerset)

The primary winners will face Libertarian Brian J. Corriea of Wilson in the special election on January 16.

Assembly District 58 – Washington County

GOP: Tiffany Koehler (Slinger), Spencer Zimmerman (Janesville), Rick Gundrum (Slinger) and Steve Stanek (West Bend)

Dem: Dennis D. Degenhardt (West Bend)

Assembly District 66 – Racine County

Dem: John Tate II (Racine) and Greta Neubauer (Racine)

There is no GOP candidate so the primary winner’s name will appear on the January 16 special election ballot.
