At the close of today’s (April 20) hearing in Marinette, the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee (JFC) will have concluded its schedule of six public hearings on the 2017-19 state budget.
Capitol sources indicate the committee is likely to begin taking votes to approve, modify or delete specific budget items during the first week in May. (Watch the WASB Legislative Update Blog for information about the JFC’s schedule and actions.)
Public education was well-represented at the six JFC hearings, with many school district administrators, school board members, teachers, parents, retired teachers, and public school advocates among those addressing the committee.
