Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt to Return as Chair of Assembly Education Committee

thiesfeldtState Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) returns as chair of the Assembly Committee on Education.  Rep. Thiesfeldt is a former teacher and administrator in two Lutheran elementary schools and a Lutheran high school. Vice chair of the committee is Rep. Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay), a veterinarian and former school board member. Rep. Kitchens was president of the Sturgeon Bay School Board for 12 years.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has announced 47 standing committees for the state Assembly in the upcoming 2017-18 legislative session as well as the chair and vice chair of each committee.  The remaining committee members have not been announced yet.

According to the Speaker’s release, not every returning majority member was given a chairmanship, which is a break from long-standing Assembly practice. That would have meant a significantly larger number of committees than any session in the last 20 years.
