JFC Approves Rep. Czaja Proposal for School Technology Funding

The Joint Finance Committee (JFC) Thursday voted unanimously in support of a motion by Rep. Mary Czaja (R-Irma) to provide funding for a variety of technology-related needs that will be of benefit to many Wisconsin school districts and particularly to small rural school districts.  WASB thanks Rep. Czaja for her motion

This funding will be allocated for: 1) competitive block grants to school districts for technology infrastructure; 2) teacher training grants to consortia of schools for the cost of training teachers on the use of educational technology; and 3) state support for a digital learning collaborative established for the state wide web academy and for delivery of digital content and collaborative instruction. Similar proposals were recommended in the spring of 2014 by the Assembly Speaker’s Task Force on Rural Schools (TEACH 2.0).
